By Bob SenitramIt's been three months since I wrote a column...Why? To tell the truth everything I've written in the past five years was absolutely true, but after a while I ran out of personal stories to tell. I pretty much told you every stupid thing I have ever done! As a result, I have to just talk to you guys like a regular blogger.
It really sucks the way the terrorists bombed London. I took notice that Tony Blair stopped calling them Muslim extremists or Muslim terrorists, ect. Then it all became clear to me.
A few years ago, out of curiosity I got a copy of the Quran from the local library. One thing that stuck in my mind was the introduction.
As you know every prophet of a religion gets started thinking about God for some reason, and then God speaks to them and the rest is history. Muhammad was no different. According to the intro in my copy of the Quran, Muhammad questioned Christianity as the "true religion of God" because of the Crusades, which was happening at the time.
Apparently, he concluded God's religion couldn't be responsible for all the death and torture that accompanied the Crusades. In other words, if you live for hate and killing, your not "representin'" God, your probably representing evil. Since death, destruction, and torture is pretty much evil.
Example, look through the New Testament. You'll be hard pressed to find the verse where Jesus hung someone upside down and pulled out their intestines. Likewise, he never went on killing sprees in the market place. Because whether you believe Jesus as the messiah or not, one thing is constant...he represented good. Even Muhammad recognized him as a great prophet.
Maybe now you see the conflict of interests of the terrorist groups. Many of them represent a religion (B) that rejected another religion (A) because of the violence that was done in the name of religion A. However, now religion (B) wants to rid the world of all evil-doers (anyone who is not part of religion B). To do this they selected extreme violence.
The initial rejection of this violence is the foundation set forth by their religion's founder. By turning to violence, you would nullify the foundation of your own religion. In other words, a Muslim using violence in a crusade-like manner is like saying that Islam never should have gotten started in the first place.
As I see it, the only people who would do such a thing, are folks who never believed in the teachings of their own religion. Just like the folks who hosted the Crusades really weren't Christians...they just used Jesus as a reason to kill folks with dark skin.
Now I'm no religious scholar, so maybe I got the whole thing mixed up. But it seems like a crazy person can take any prase from any religion and iterpret it to mean you gotta go out and do some crazy evil thing that contradicts the religion altogether.
It seems to me that Muslim terrorist groups are willing to perform horrible acts of evil in order to prove that they don't believe in their own religion.
In American culture, rejecting or questioning your religion is rite of passage into adulthood. So by rejecting Islam, terrorists, in essence, are behaving more like Americans, their sworn enemy.
I think if Muslim terrorists want to be more like Americans, they should just go out and buy a pair of blue jeans.
And now you know...
