Song in my head:
"3-11's got grass roots,
3-11's got grass roots..."
- 3-11 -
Well, here in good ol' Omaha, NE (the good life) we're having our 150th
Celebration! I was really excited. We're one of the few states
in the U.S. to still have the "electric chair" (and by electric, I don't mean a chair with sheets of
LSD stuck to it). So naturally, I thought we were celebrating our 150th execution (most likely, a brotha')!
But I be wrong.
Then I figure, it must be the 150th Omaha Police Man to get a way with killing a black man (Omaha Police just love
shootin' us darkies).
But I be wrong again...
IT WAS A BIRTHDAY PARTY!!! Whoooo-hooooo!!!
Omaha's been existing for 150 years!!! Wow!!!
Here in Omaha, the temperature gets to 95 to 105 degrees in the summer and -20 to 30 degrees in the winter. So
you figure, 150 years ago...anyone who put up with that kind of shit without heating or air conditioning, had to
be either retarded or really
retarded. And it all goes to prove that if you shove about 1,000 really ignorant folks into an area with a good
water supply and good farm land, eventually it will grow to a decent size metropolis that does quite well for itself.
Don't get me wrong, I love living in Omaha, it's really a nice place...if you is white. Otherwise, you got to
put up with a lot of shit. But the 3-11 group played in a free concert to celebrate and they are from Omaha, so
maybe evolution works faster than we think, 'cause they are way cool. "Grasshopper Take-Over" also played...and
Zak Hexum too.
Here's the three degrees thingy:
Zak Hexum is the brother of one of the 3-11 guys. My wife was a student teacher for Zak in a music class. One
of the guys from 3-11 has the same last name as me (no relation), and Grasshopper Take-Over has a guy in the band
who played acoustic guitar in my wedding (before he joined the group). Now Grasshopper Take-Over got a big record
deal, so you'll be hearing more from them!
Furthermore, the grasshopper guy's sister was my wife's violin student. And there you have it. The entire concert
to benefit Omaha, is inter-woven with personal relationships; however, I'm not too crazy about Omaha, I just live
here because my wife likes it here.
I rented a video from 3-11 once, and the whole thing was about them gettin' high on the dope. And they have a
career! Weird. I first got high when I was about 10 yrs old and stayed high until I was 25. After 15 years of
being stoned, I realized I never did a God-Damn thing. So I quit and went to college and have been straight ever
since.
But I have to admit, If I could be stoned and make a living, I would.
Which reminds me, be sure to visit our current sponsor (banner on top of the page). This will allow me to quit
my job and just work on this web site for a living (I'm quite sure I can maintain this site while stoned).
