What's all this about that movie? Why is the Jewish community up in arms about it? Is it true what they say? IWANT
TO KNOW!!!!
Jason,
I turned on the news the other day and saw the tail end of a report that said the movie should have a disclaimer
at the end of it.
I watched the movie very closely, paying close attention to the way folks are portrayed. And I must say, even
though an entire community, seemed to be against the main character . I found the people were not portrayed negatively
as a whole.
Sure many were guilty of horrible crimes, but what is done is done. The followers of the law seemed to mindlessly
go with the crowd and were quick to jump on the bandwagon when it came to torturing the innocent. But these are
really just traits that is part of human nature
Really, all the main character wanted to do is help other people. Although there should never be a law against
helping others, I seemed like he got the short end of the stick.
The movie just serves as a reminder of what happened in the past, and that, we should never forget, so we don't
do it again. To be honest with you, I can't for the life of me figure out why the Jewish community is wants a
disclaimer at the end of "Shindler's List," but I can see their point. We don't want a generation of
kids growing up to think that all Germans are homicidal maniacs.
Maybe we should extend this policy. Every time a Mexican is portrayed as an uneducated, alien, gardener, we should
have the disclaimer, "Not all Mexicans are uneducated, alien, gardeners (but most are)."
And the when black males are portrayed as "Pimps" we would have the disclaimer, "Not all black males
are pimps (but most are)."
And at the end of cops, the disclaimer should be, "Not all poor people pot bellied slobs that tear their shirts
off and run down the street when they are afraid (but most are and do)."
And of course Science Fiction movies will need disclaimers also, for example, "Not all aliens carry a cookbook
on how to cook humans (but most do)." This is just in case aliens visit the Earth and complain they are portrayed
negatively.
Now to something completely different. Last week,
Stephen said that he thought Howard Dean was the spawn of satin. I believe him, but it left me confused because
I though George Bush Jr. was the spawn of Satan. I don't have any proof, I just thought that...but I did stumble
upon this rarely seen video of George Bush on the Internet...
